| Marilynn Carson, a native Chicagoan, is a motivational speaker, poet and author. She has written three books: Exercise Your Mind; Wake Up Call, The Story About a Sleeper; and Keeping It Real with Yourself, The Search for Truth. She has a motivational inspiration CD also titled Exercise Your Mind. Marilynn, who is both a National Certified Counselor and Licensed Professional Counselor, provides individual and family therapy at the Community Mental Health Council in Chicago, Illinois. In addition, she is a Certified Hypnotherapist and Certified Acupuncture Detoxification Specialist.
Marilynn has two companies: Poetic Connections, consisting of motivational products and services; and Expressway Publications, her publishing firm. She is a lifetime member of the International Society of Poets, which awarded her the Poet of Merit Award and proclaimed her to be one of the Outstanding Poets of 1994. In addition, she received the Editor’s Choice Award from the National Library of Congress. Marilynn does commercial voiceovers at WSSD-FM Chicago, and she is a member of Toastmaster’s International, the MJM Speakers’ Circle chapter.
Marilynn was inspired to write in order to encourage people to take issue with themselves and to learn from their experiences with a positive rather than negative outlook. Her message is to be true to yourself.
